Rediscovering printmaking
I started printmaking when my son made some collagraphs for his art GCSE and his teacher recommended a workshop she’d been to in East London. I hadn’t done any printmaking since college and I’d lost my mojo for illustration a bit, so I felt really energised by the idea of something new. I took that workshop, then another, and another, experimenting with different techniques. I got hold of a little press and started making ridiculous amounts of mess at home, embracing the mist

Art postcards are like time capsules
A little tour of a big collection I was just looking through some postcards I bought in Japan. These are by Chie Okumura and she was selling them in a little shop near the end of the Fushimi Inari trail in Kyoto, with the actual cat curled up asleep in the corner. Aren’t they lovely? I was wondering what to do with them and it got me thinking about postcards in general, why I buy them and why I’ll never get rid of them in one of my rash clear outs. My mum collected postcards,
