Notes from Japan
A short one this month as I’ve been in Japan and my head is full of inspiration and plans of all the things I want to make. What is in my head (as became clear in my last letter) is dots and lines. Inspiration is strange. I’m not sure if you start looking for it, or if it starts finding you. Am I conjuring up dots and lines everywhere now? It’s all a bit Baader–Meinhof theory. 30 days of 7x7 Abstract prints
My finished set of tiny prints completed over 30 days, a combo of drypoint and monotype with chine colle. I like how different they are, mainly because I was trying to keep it fun and interesting for me, as well as people following on Substack notes . They've given me lots of ideas for future projects.


Constellation of Influence
As an artist, I’ve often had that moment when I’ve come across something from my past that reminds me of my own work and it surprises me. I’ve come to think of these moments as stars in a ‘constellation of influence’, inspired by Hugh Dunford-Wood’s illustrated mind map. A way of drawing together everything in your life that has inspired you (consciously or unconsciously) - from graphics to colour palettes and fonts to pattern, form and texture.
