Rediscovering printmaking

I started printmaking when my son made some collagraphs for his art GCSE and his teacher recommended a workshop she’d been to in East London. I hadn’t done any printmaking since college and I’d lost my mojo for illustration a bit, so I felt really energised by the idea of something new.
I took that workshop, then another, and another, experimenting with different techniques. I got hold of a little press and started making ridiculous amounts of mess at home, embracing the mistakes and the surprises. A bit like opening the door of a ceramics kiln, there’s nothing like lifting the blanket from a press to hear your own voice gasping “Oooh!” or indeed sighing “Oh…That’s a shame.”
My 30 day project gave me the freedom to play without expectation, while providing a fast-track way to explore and test new ideas. A trip to Japan inspired me further, and it all led to this new collection of original prints, a combination of abstract dialogues and quiet interiors.

The prints are in the shop here with free UK shipping and affordable US shipping.
I’ve added filters to my Originals page, so it’s much easier to look through, and I’ve archived sold work, so there’s no more clutter. You’ll also find a Studio Sale category where I’ve put some collage looking for a home.
